The Phantom Species: Crossota iridius

Today the crew obtained a rare species of jellyfish thought only to exist in the wildest of imaginations. Very little has been determined about this creature except that when threatened, it flares its tentacles in a flamboyant array similar to the tail feathers of a male peacock. This organism also produces an ear piercing cry and has incredible camouflaging capabilities. Although the creature was most certainly captured and placed in a specimen jar that was closed and sealed, the crew has begun to wonder if the specimen somehow escaped, or if it is just a true master of disguise? It's vibrancy and form are no longer visible to the human eye.
